Muladhara - The Root Chakra

Muladhara - The Root Chakra

by Rad Ponnayya

Finding balance is no easy feat; we drink more water, eat healthier foods and attempt to fit more physical activity into our busy lifestyles, these are just some of the things we do to take care of ourselves, but with everything going on around us are we forgetting about what’s going on inside us?

Here are 5 signs of a weak or closed Root Chakra
-Feelings of a general lack of physical energy and vitality.
Sense of wellbeing is highly dependent upon external circumstances. As everything is going smoothly and to your liking, you feel OK, but when circumstances aren’t to your liking, you feel insecure.

-General lack of confidence in dealing with anything outside your comfort zone.

-You believe that money creates security and therefore if a certain amount of money is attained, you guarantee your security.

-You experience any of the following physical symptoms on a frequent or recurring basis: eating disorders, adrenal fatigue, foot and leg pains and injuries, rectal or colon problems, immune disorders or bone disorders.

You can only do so much about external pressures that change how your mind and body react, but when we begin to understand ourselves better we see that opening and balancing our chakras can control what we let affect us. Here is our guide to finding balance within the galaxy that is called your body.

Before anyone can find balance within we must understand where and what our seven chakras are so we can do everything possible to keep energy moving through them freely and continuously…

1st - Root Chakra
The Root Chakra represents our foundation as people, life, vitality, strength and one’s physical nature. Located from the base of your spine to the tailbone region, your root chakra is associated with issues surrounding survival, such as, financial independence, nutrition and rest. Through walking barefoot, being outdoors, eating things that are red like raspberries, tomatoes and radish or from the earth such as potatoes, beets and carrots, this is where we begin to ground ourselves.

Crystal Therapy TIP
Wearing or surrounding yourself with stones or crystals of red jasper, bloodstone, hematite, garnet or smokey quartz carry many properties that help to open and align your root chakra.

Chakra Mudra
Gnyan – Touch the tips of your thumb and index finger. Chant the bij sound LAM

Visualization
Picture a red lotus flower at the base of your spine, unfolding. Allow its energy to flow into your body as you inhale. Do this every other inhalation until you feel your body is highly charged.

Aromatherapy
