The mala's origin goes back almost 3000 years and the term is derived from the Sanskrit word “Japamala,” which is a string of beads used for prayer and meditation by Hindus and Buddhists. It is similar to the concept of a Rosary in the Catholic faith.
The mala string is made up of 108 individual beads, which are used to keep count while chanting or repeating a mantra or intention while meditating. It is a tool to help you count mantras, and acts as a tactile guide as you sit in silence.
The number 108 has spiritual significance and is considered sacred in the Hindu religion. The number 1 stands for God, the universe or your own highest truth, 0 stands for emptiness and humility in your spiritual practice and 8 stands for infinity and timelessness.
This handmade mala features gemstones chosen by our Certified Crystal Healer that coincide with the seven chakras. Palo santo, a wood that is a member of the Frankincense family is used in South America for space clearing and cleansing. These wood beads release a beautiful aroma when worn or rubbed during meditation.
All our malas are hand tied & knotted between each bead.
