Negative Energy? Black Obsidian May Not Be The Ideal Choice

With everything going on around us today, we could all use a little extra protection to combat the negativity out there. It seems to be everywhere; political, financial, at work, in our homes and even with some of our relationships. There's nothing more frustrating than being surrounded and bombarded with negativity when you're trying to make positive progress and change in your life. But don't give up hope – there are certain stones that can help aid in protecting you and efforts. Just please be careful with which ones you choose because not all protective stones are created equal.

As an example, at Radiance Gifts, we have customers asking for Black Obsidian for protection because someone told them that was the best stone to use. Black Obsidian is a good protection stone, but in our experience it is not the best.

Black Obsidian is actually a volcanic glass. For Game of Thrones fan, it is Dragonglass. In our experience, because it is a form of natural glass, Black Obsidian reflects or deflects negative energy rather than absorbing it. With that principle, it can reflect negative energy back to where it came from and that energy can very well reflect back to you. The cumulative effect of this could only increase the intensity of the negative energy over time.

Black Tourmaline was another of our premier stones for purification, protection and repelling negative energy. It had been our “go to stone” for a long time. Black Tourmaline can also increase vitality and emotional stability and is excellent for aiding the user in creating a grounding circuit with the earth's electromagnetic field.

Now our number one stone for protection is Shungite. In face at Radiance Gifts, we like to call it “The Miracle Stone.”

What is Shungite and why are just now hearing about it? It is nothing new but it's properties have only recently been discovered.

If you've never seen it, Shungite is a black, lustrous, non-crystalline mineraloid consisting of more than 98 weight percent of carbon. It was first discovered from a deposit near Shunga Village, in Karelia, Russia, from where it gets its name.

Surprisingly, Shungite has been around for an estimated 2 billion years, but it wasn’t until the 1996 Nobel Prize winning research that discovered the antioxidant fullerenes within this stone, that people began to wake up to it's benefits and healing potential.

Fullerenes are a newly discovered (1985) form of carbon which was previously only known to exist as diamond, graphite or coal. They are named after Buckminster Fuller, the American architect who designed geodesic domes which resemble spherical fullerenes in appearance.

Scientists have discovered “fullerenes” in shungite, which have remarkable properties. Among them, fullerenes boost the regenerative ability of human tissue and influence the exchange of neurotransmitters, which can improve a person’s resistance to stress. It is also a natural antioxidant.

Shungite is the only known natural mineral to contain fullerenes, a crystalline form of carbon. Fullerenes are anti-everything harmful to us including: viruses, bacteria, fungus, pathogens, and all those harmful chemicals we are exposed to daily like fluoride and chlorine in our drinking water, to name a few.

Shungite has the ability to not only protect but it can also filter, purify, charge, stabilize and heal. It has strong mystical energies that infuse the auric field with light and it can propel you along your path keeping you focused, grounded and centered. And Shungite also shields and absorbs harmful EMFs just are all around us.

That being said, Shungite in water can be beneficial. Simply placing a piece of Shungite in water, and allowing it a short time to purify is all thats needed. Drinking this purified water is said to have many beneficial qualities such as an increased rate of healing and cell growth, and detoxification of the body.
